The Port of Oakland handled 181,356 TEUs in June, a 7.7% increase over June 2025, driven by growth in both imports and exports. Full imports rose 11.1% to 78,114 TEUs and full exports climbed 9.3% to 65,140 TEUs, pushing combined loaded container cargo up 10.3% year over year to 143,254 TEUs. Empty container volume slipped 1.1% to 38,102 TEUs, and the port logged 81 vessel calls, up from 77 a year earlier.

“June was a solid month for the Port, with growth in both imports and exports,” said Port of Oakland Acting Maritime Director Jason Garben, citing continued strength in loaded cargo and a focus on reliable service. The gains reflected activity among retailers, manufacturers and California agricultural exporters moving through Northern California’s international trade gateway.

Through the first six months of 2026, the port has handled 1,114,665 TEUs, 2.5% below the same period last year — a decline driven by lower empty container repositioning, while loaded cargo edged up 0.3% compared with the first half of 2025.
