Repeated typhoons have driven the bottlenecks, pushing intra-Asia freight rates to record levels, with Shanghai-Laem Chabang up 22 percent and Shanghai-Jakarta up 12 percent. Asia-North Europe deployment around Golden Week reached 1.5 million TEUs, 27 percent higher year-on-year, partly reflecting vessel bunching from congestion rather than added capacity.
