State-owned Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) has launched a global tender for up to six 8,000 TEU LNG dual-fuel-ready containerships, a program worth an estimated $720 million, as part of efforts to rebuild a national liner fleet. The tender covers two firm vessels plus options for four more, with bids due August 31. Indian yards can match the lowest qualified foreign bid, and construction must occur at the winning shipyard’s own facilities. The ships would support the planned Bharat Container Shipping Line.
