DeepOcean, in partnership with USV AS, is testing the USV Challenger, an uncrewed vessel equipped with a fully electric work-class ROV for subsea inspection, maintenance, and repair (IMR). The USV offers cost-effective and autonomous capabilities, reducing reliance on larger vessels. With innovative features like DeepOcean’s proprietary digital twin platform and a novel launch and recovery system (LARS), the USV can operate in severe weather conditions and perform advanced subsea tasks. DeepOcean aims to shift 30% of IMR work from traditional vessels to USVs in collaboration with Aker BP and other operators.
