The Port of Long Beach handled its busiest August on record, moving 919,992 TEUs, up 2 percent year over year and marking the fifth-busiest month in the port’s 115-year history. Imports rose 3.6 percent to 456,100 TEUs, while exports increased 4 percent to 99,754 TEUs. Through the first eight months of 2026, the port has handled 6.68 million TEUs, up 1.3 percent. The National Retail Federation now forecasts September as the year’s busiest import month nationally, with the extended peak season attributed to strong consumer demand and weather-related vessel delays.
