The Pacific Maritime Association and ILWU Local 26 have extended their agreement through 5 p.m. Pacific on Wednesday, November 4, postponing a potential work stoppage at Los Angeles and Long Beach. Negotiations continue with federal mediators, but the underlying dispute remains unresolved.
The agreement covers about 250 port watchmen and is separate from the coastwide longshore contract. PMA warns that a strike could disrupt terminal operations if other workers honor picket lines; the extension moves the previous November 1 deadline back by three days.
