The heavy-lift ship Black Marlin has delivered China Zorrilla, the world’s largest electric ferry and largest battery-electric vehicle of any kind, to Nueva Palmira, Uruguay, following a 40-day voyage from the Incat shipyard in Tasmania. The aluminum fast-ferry, capable of carrying 225 vehicles and 2,100 passengers, will operate a 30-nautical-mile route across the Rio de la Plata between Colonia del Sacramento, Uruguay, and Buenos Aires, Argentina. Incat is now building three similar electric ferries for Denmark’s Molslinjen, its largest multi-vessel electrification program to date.
