Rare warm-water catches continue off the Washington coast, highlighted by a nearly eight-foot, 100-pound striped marlin landed by Sea Breeze Charters aboard the F/V Monte Carlo on August 29, returning to the Port of Ilwaco. It marks the fleet’s second marlin catch in two weeks, following a state-record 151-pound marlin on August 15. Separately, the F/V Shake N Bake’s crew landed its first mako shark of the season on August 25, as warming ocean temperatures push typically tropical species into Pacific Northwest waters.
