WorkBoat Article: Master Boat Builders launches second Maritime Partners tug

Master Boat Builders, Coden, Ala., has launched Titan, the second of eight harbor tugs under construction for New Orleans-based Maritime Partners. The launch follows the recent christening of the first vessel in the series, Marauder, and marks another milestone in a multiyear newbuild program that will expand Maritime Partners’ fleet of ship-assist and escort tugs.

Titan measures 88’x43’x16.5′ with a 19.5′ draft and is based on the Robert Allan Ltd. RApport 2700-MP design. The tug delivers more than 90 metric tons of bollard pull, powered by twin Caterpillar 3516E main engines through Steerprop azimuthing drives with 3,000-mm fixed-pitch stainless-steel propellers. A Markey Machine 75-hp electric Class II hawser winch is installed, with provision for a 100-hp escort winch. The vessel is ABS-classed with A1 Escort Tug, Towing Vessel, FFV1, BP, and LEV (US) notations and complies with U.S. Coast Guard Subchapter M.

Master Boat Builders is scheduled to deliver the six remaining vessels under the program through 2027.
