Coast Guard Air Station Astoria has a new commanding officer. Cmdr. Michael Flint relieved Capt. Neal Corbin during a change-of-command ceremony held July 16 at Coast Guard Base Astoria, with Rear Adm. Arex B. Avanni, commander of the Northwest Coast Guard District, presiding.
Air Station Astoria operates several MH-60 Jayhawk helicopters covering search and rescue, law enforcement, aids-to-navigation support, national defense and environmental protection at the mouth of the Columbia River. The unit also trains the joint force through its Advanced Helicopter Rescue School and is known as the “Guardians of the Pacific Northwest.”
Corbin departed for his next assignment as Incident Management Branch Chief at the Great Lakes Coast Guard District.
