We will provide an overview of the business of shipping on the Columbia River. The class will explore the history of the River, the infrastructure, ports and terminals, and the economic impact of the imports and exports to this region. Furthermore, we will review the types of vessels that travel the River and introduce the maritime industry parties and their essential roles to shipping.
