Professional Mariner Article: Master Boat Launches Rapport 2800 Tug for Gulf LNG
Master Boat Builders has announced the launch of the tugboat Jill, marking a significant milestone in its partnership with Gulf LNG Tugs of Port Arthur LLC, a joint venture formed by Bay-Houston Management, Bay Towing, Moran Towing Corp., and Suderman & Young Towing Company. The launch completes the six-vessel RApport 2800 tugboat series designed by Robert Allan Ltd., with Jill being one of two identical tugs purpose-built for Gulf LNG operations. Measuring 92 feet in length with a 40-foot beam and a bollard pull exceeding 85 metric tons, the tug is designed for high-performance ship assist and terminal support in LNG energy corridors. Each Gulf LNG tug will also feature firefighting systems meeting ABS Fire Fighting Vessel 1 (FFV1) classification, enhancing safety during critical operations. Both vessels are scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2026, reinforcing Master Boat Builders’ role in delivering specialized, safety-focused vessels for the U.S. maritime sector.
