The American Waterways Operators (AWO) has released its Falls Overboard Prevention Report, a comprehensive, data-driven analysis of falls overboard in the U.S. tugboat, towboat, and barge industry. The report identifies common causal factors, offers adaptable prevention strategies for various vessel types, and provides guidance for integrating falls-overboard prevention into company safety management systems. In conjunction with the report, AWO is organizing Falls Overboard Safety Standdown Day on August 28, encouraging companies to discuss prevention strategies with crews and promote awareness using #StopFallsOverboard and #AWOSafety.
