The U.S. Navy’s Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division has tested a towable robotic refueling system for unmanned surface vessels (USVs), developed with Sealartec, aimed at extending mission endurance for long-range sensor and weapons-testing operations. The training support vessel USNS Vindicator towed the docking system during trials off Virginia, completing about 100 docking cycles and transferring roughly 400 gallons of diesel. MARTAC’s T38 USV supported the tests. The Navy plans to develop a fully autonomous refueling cycle, with Fleet Forces Command exploring broader fleet applications.
