Kongsberg Maritime has agreed to acquire Berg Propulsion, strengthening its position in marine propulsion just three months after becoming a standalone public company. Berg, founded in 1912, brings an installed base of about 4,000 vessels focused on the volume segment, including general cargo and product tankers, complementing Kongsberg’s strength in high-value, performance-driven propulsion serving over 30,000 vessels. Berg will operate as a separate brand and business unit. Financial terms weren’t disclosed, though Berg reported revenues exceeding $180 million last year with strong five-year growth.
