U.S. Coast Guard crews from multiple districts successfully assisted three mariners aboard the disabled fishing vessel Defiant, located approximately 95 miles west of Newport, Oregon. The coordinated response included the Coast Guard Cutter Alder, aircrews from Air Station Sacramento and North Bend, and a Station Yaquina Bay Motor Lifeboat crew. After delivering essential supplies and a dewatering pump, the Alder towed the Defiant 80 miles closer to shore, where the tow was transferred to the MLB crew for safe arrival in Newport.
