Washington State Ferries’ Wenatchee, the largest U.S. passenger ferry to be electrified, has returned to full-time service on the Seattle/Bainbridge route as of June 24 after completing its hybrid-electric conversion at Vigor Marine Seattle. This milestone marks significant progress in WSF’s fleet modernization and emissions reduction goals. Deputy Secretary Steve Nevey thanked the 600+ employees and craftspeople who made the upgrade possible. Additionally, new legislation taking effect July 27 extends transit worker protections to WSF crews and makes certain onboard misconduct a misdemeanor.
