The Marine Superintendent supports daily port, marine terminal, and rail operations by coordinating vessel movements, cargo logistics, and stakeholder communications. Using terminal operating systems, scheduling platforms, and data tools, this role helps optimize cargo flow, railcar planning, berth utilization, and cost tracking. The position ensures safety and regulatory compliance, including hazardous cargo and CBP/FTZ requirements, while assisting with technology initiatives, dredging oversight, and stakeholder engagement. It also maintains accurate vessel schedules and provides essential administrative support to keep port operations running efficiently. This position plays a key role in driving operational excellence, supporting strategic initiatives, and upholding the port’s mission, vision, and values.

$99,166 – $144,691 annually
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, maritime operations, logistics or related field.
Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in maritime transportation, stevedoring, cargo operations, and/or terminal operations is required. Emphasis on marine or terminal operations is highly desired. Knowledge of the local maritime industry required.
License/Certification:
Communication Skills: Able to communicate clearly and succinctly in writing and verbally. Able to maintain confidentiality and ensure accurate exchange of information. Excellent interpersonal communication skills and ability to communicate openly with all staff. Able to develop and deliver formal presentations in a variety of settings to individuals, small or large groups.
Organizational Skills: Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines. Able to balance short- and long‑term priorities effectively while handling numerous, shifting, and often competing demands.
Analytical Skills: Ability to evaluate data and identify trends, solve problems, prioritize key information, anticipate operational needs, and improve processes by identifying and correcting inefficiencies.
Problem Solving Skills: Ability to logically think through and solve problems involving several variables. Able to remain objective in gathering information and investigating issues.
Computer Skills: Advanced computer skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Office suite.
