The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has named Eric Stolzenberg as the new director of its Office of Marine Safety, effective July 27, 2025. Stolzenberg, who has served as acting director since March 2024, brings deep expertise from a career spanning the Merchant Marine, naval architecture, and over 15 years at the NTSB. He has led investigations into major marine incidents such as the El Faro sinking, the Dali-Key Bridge collision, and the Titan submersible tragedy. The Office of Marine Safety is responsible for investigating significant marine accidents involving U.S. vessels and waters.
