The car carrier Morning Midas continues to burn approximately 218 miles south of Amatignak Island, Alaska, as the first of three salvage tugs is set to arrive on scene. The fire, which began on June 3 on a deck carrying electric vehicles, forced all 22 crew members to abandon ship and be rescued safely. The vessel, carrying over 3,100 vehicles—including electric and hybrid models—remains stable with no signs of water pollution. Salvage operations are underway, with the Coast Guard and Zodiac Maritime coordinating efforts amid challenging weather conditions.
