After hitting record cargo volumes in July, the Port of Los Angeles continued its robust performance in August 2025, efficiently processing 958,355 Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs)—nearly matching last year’s figures. Combined July and August throughput approached 2 million containers, the highest two-month total for any Western Hemisphere port. While loaded imports dipped 1% year-over-year and loaded exports rose 5%, overall volumes for the first eight months reached 6,934,004 TEUs, up 4.5% from 2024. Port leadership attributes the strong numbers to early holiday shipments and proactive trade planning, though they anticipate volumes to ease in the coming months amid shifting economic signals.
