Despite rough wind and choppy water on the Columbia River, Buoy 10 fishers gathered for the fourth annual Columbia River Salmon Derby, a Port of Chinook fundraiser hosted by the Chinook Port Alliance. The weekend included Friday registration and a kickoff party, Saturday dawn fishing, a 4 p.m. weigh-in, and an evening dinner with live music. David Ash Jr.’s 20-pound salmon led the day’s catch. Proceeds support port improvements, including a pay kiosk, parking lot grading, and launch ramp rebuilding. A raffle featured roughly 100 prizes, including a bar pilot boat tour.
