LD Armateurs has completed installation of six Norsepower rotor sails aboard Spirit of Toulouse, a 168-meter RoRo being built to carry Airbus aircraft components across the Atlantic. Each sail stands 35 meters tall, making it the largest RoRo with wind-assisted propulsion. The first of three sister ships, it also features dual-fuel engines capable of running on e-methanol, bio-methanol, or marine diesel oil. Sea trials are next, and Airbus expects the fleet to cut transatlantic shipping emissions from 68,000 to 33,000 metric tons of CO2 by 2030.
