The U.S. Coast Guard has announced that the National Coast Guard Museum, the first national museum dedicated to its history and missions, will open to the public the week of August 2, 2027, culminating on the Coast Guard’s birthday, August 4. Under construction along the Thames River in New London, Connecticut, the 80,000-square-foot museum will feature five public decks, three exhibit floors, and five thematic wings. Highlights include a suspended MH-60T Jayhawk helicopter and Signalman 1st Class Douglas Munro’s Medal of Honor.
