The French government is awarding nearly $300 million to five leading ports—Cherbourg, Brest, Nantes-Saint Nazaire, Port-la-Nouvelle, and Marseille-Fos—to build infrastructure supporting floating offshore wind energy under the France 2030 initiative. The funding, expected to unlock roughly $1 billion in total investment, will finance new and modified berths, land reclamation, and marshalling and assembly space. Marseille-Fos receives the largest award, nearly $100 million, for 30 hectares of land and a 400-meter berth, part of France’s push toward 6 GW of floating wind capacity by 2040.
