China has launched a Methanol Fuel Shipping Supply Chain Innovation Alliance to accelerate the adoption of methanol as a marine fuel and support the shipping industry’s transition toward lower-carbon operations. The alliance brings together 20 organizations from across the shipping, port, energy, manufacturing, and research sectors to strengthen collaboration across the entire methanol supply chain.

Members plan to advance technical standards, coordinate fuel production and bunkering infrastructure, and promote research to support wider commercial adoption of methanol-powered vessels. The initiative reflects China’s continued push to develop alternative marine fuels as the industry works toward international decarbonization goals.
