Koin 6 Article: Multiple Boats, Docks Catch Fire on Columbia River Near Rainier
Multiple vessels caught fire Sunday afternoon on the Columbia River near Rainier, Oregon, prompting a multi-agency emergency response. Crews arriving at Scipio’s Goble Landing found a 65-foot vessel and a 35-foot sailboat heavily engulfed in flames, with the sailboat eventually sinking and the larger vessel left partially submerged.
The fire also spread to four nearby floating docks, which sustained significant damage but remained afloat. Officials said the vessels had been moored approximately 50 feet offshore and were not connected to the shoreline at the time of the incident.
No injuries were reported, and authorities believe no one was aboard either vessel when the fire broke out. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
