The U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD) has awarded $6.2 billion in 10-year contracts to manage its Ready Reserve Force (RRF) fleet, strengthening America’s military sealift capabilities. Covering 51 vessels, these contracts include maintenance, repair, logistics, activation, operation, and crewing—ensuring the RRF remains ready to transport military equipment and supplies during critical surge periods. This investment aligns with President Trump’s 2025 Executive Order on “Restoring America’s Maritime Dominance” and reflects MARAD’s commitment to national security, humanitarian response, and disaster relief. The RRF, a core part of the National Defense Reserve Fleet, can activate ships within five days for global deployment, providing nearly 100% of government-owned surge sealift capability.
