CMA CGM has officially reflagged the CMA CGM Phoenix, a 9,326 TEU Neo-Panamax containership, as part of its $20 billion investment to triple the size of its U.S.-flagged fleet. Now the largest container vessel sailing under the U.S. flag, the Phoenix employs 42 American mariners and will serve routes connecting the U.S. East Coast with South Asia. The move supports President Trump’s Executive Order to restore America’s maritime dominance and will increase CMA CGM’s American seafarer workforce by 50% as three more vessels join the registry. The Phoenix will also serve as a training platform for future U.S. maritime officers.
