Seatrade Maritime Article: Shipowner Decarbonisation Ambition and Action Rise

A new Global Centre for Maritime Decarbonisation (GCMD) survey of 114 shipowners and operators shows significant progress in the industry’s decarbonisation efforts. The percentage of companies with net zero targets and clear decarbonisation roadmaps has increased notably since the last survey, with 77% now prioritizing net zero as a critical or essential strategy. Adoption of low-carbon fuels, technological, and operational efficiency measures is on the rise, despite ongoing geopolitical and economic headwinds. The report highlights the need for supportive policy, incentives, infrastructure, and awareness to achieve the sector’s sustainability ambitions.
